We know how you can extend the lives of your parents and grandparents! It’s really easy, despite appearances …
Medieval alchemists were constantly looking for an elixir of immortality. Later, they decided that he could find a philosopher’s stone in his recruitment. Of course, these two substances remained in the realm of unparalleled dreams of humanity. However, we can create the elixir of life by ourselves and this … every day!
Research clearly shows that the more time you spend with your loved ones, the longer they will live.
How is this possible?
Detailed research has been carried out at the University of San Francisco. Loneliness is very much related to death – often it is not age that is the cause of death, just being lonely!
Research on the relationship between loneliness and death.
The research involved 1,600 adults, and the average age of the respondents is at least 71 years. Out of this group, almost 23% of single women and men died within 6 years. And what about those who could enjoy the company of a partner, children or grandchildren? During the six-year study, only 14% of them left.
This is already scientifically proven – not only an occasional visit to older parents or a holiday trip to grandparents, so that our loved ones would enjoy good health for many years.
This is beneficial, however, not only for seniors, but also for ourselves! This is a fairly obvious fact: maintaining relationships with older people means that they can share their experience with us. Old people are usually less appraising and critical towards others than younger people.
Spending time with grandparents is a benefit for both parties: they receive our company and support, and we tell their stories, tenderness, delicious dumplings and secret recipes for baked goods 😉 .
